La Maison de Pierre La Cime, Queyras, Alps
This charming chambre d'hôte is located in the Queyras region of the French Alps and is used (subject to availability) for several nights during our centre based guided walking holiday Queyras - Best Kept secret in the Alps
The chambre d'hote La Maison de Pierre La Cime is located in the small hamlet of Le Coin in the parish of Molines en Queyras at about 2000m in altitude. The guest house is surrounded by ancient traditional alpine buildings and has beautiful views up the Aigue Agnelle Valley towards the Col Agnel and down across the Aigue Blanche Valley with small fields of hay towards the stunning limestone peaks in the west Queyras.
It is a magnificent setting to relax, take in the views and forget about life back home. Its location in the heart of this picturesque region of the French Alps means that it is an ideal base for a few days for our guided walking holidays. The guest house is only a few kilometres from Saint Véran, the highest village in the Alps and one of the prettiest villages in France.
La Maison de Pierre La Cime is run by your welcoming host Anne Pougeol. It is located in an historic farm building dating from 1844 and has been lovingly restored. The traditional farm buildings in the Molines and Saint Veran parishes have stone on the lower floors and high wooden hay lofts above built from Larch trees. Two of the rooms on the upper floors profit from the traditional building style to encorporate delightful balconies.
La Maison de Pierre La Cime in the Queyras is a guest house full of local character, perfect for welcoming guest on our guided walking holidays in France. There are 4 comfortable en-suite rooms on several different levels. The rooms are smart and comfortable but rest in the character of this traditional Queyras building. On the second floor there is a large glass window creating a solarium, perfect for relaxing. Downstairs, there is a quaint dining room and reading area under a vaulted roof in the former stables. The decor is rustic and the kitchen area, which is in full view from the dining room, has used some of the ancient features from the stables.
Anne provides delicious evening meals, with a number of original dishes, as well as some hearty meals providing energy for the following day's guided walk. The four course meal is accompanied by very drinkable wine. You may well be sharing the large dining table with other guests from all over the world, often walkers, adding to the fun and interest.
From this guest house, access is rapid to the village of Saint Veran and the Col d'Agnel for a number of walks in the eastern part of the Queyras on our walking holiday in France. Despite the relatively high altitude of the hamlets and villages in the Queyras compared to many other parts of the French Alps, the temperatures and conditions are usually pleasant due to the favourable climate of the mountains of the Queyras. The Queyras enjoys 300 sunny days a year.
As well as being an integral part of our walking holidays in France we would be happy to book this guest house for you as part of your independent sightseeing trip. Please contact us if you would like more information.
