Chalet Viso, Queyras
This charming chambre d'hôte is located in the Queyras region of the French Alps and is used (subject to availability) for several nights during our guided walking holiday Queyras - Best kept secret in the Alps and on our independent trekking tour of the Queyras - Tour of the Queyras
The Chalet Viso is located in the small hamlet of La Chalp in the Arvieux Valley. Perched at 1700m, this beautiful u-shaped valley with small fields of hay and corn is surrounded by stunning limestone peaks in the north west Queyras. It is a magnificent setting to relax, take in the views and forget about life back home. Its location in the heart of this picturesque region of the French Alps means that it is an ideal base for a few days for our guided walking holidays. From the guest house it's possible to walk to the Col Néal with its glacial lakes, the historic chalets at Clapeyto, the pretty village of Souliers and its beautiful lake above, as well as the pastures surrounded by rocky peaks at Furfand.
The Chalet Viso is run by your welcoming hosts Frederick and Laurence. For the last 4 years they have been running their lovely guest house, located in an old farm near the famous col d'Izoard. Frederick's energy and enthusiasm for the area and his outdoor activities is contageous and he'll happily spend plenty of time explaining routes or providing snippets of local knowledge.
The Chalet Viso is a guest house full of local character, perfect for welcoming guests on our French trekking holidays. There are 6 comfortable en-suite rooms on two different levels each with an open balcony in front looking out over the mountains. Downstairs there is a large dining room decorated with lovely old furniture and a large vaulted lounge with a huge open fire to keep things warm on colder evenings. In front of the Chalet Viso are a number of seats and benches to enjoy the warm sunshine, in an area which has 300 sunny days a year. Comfortable, yet original, this small guest house is a relaxing place to stay.
They provide delicious evening meals, with a number of original dishes, as well as some hearty meals providing energy for the following day's walk. The four course meal is accompanied by very drinkable wine. You may well be sharing the large dining table with other guests from all over the world, often walkers, adding to the fun and interest.
As well as being an integral part of our walking holidays in France we would be happy to book this guest house for you as part of your independent sightseeing trip. Please contact us if you would like more information.
