La Maison des Gardes, Cluny, Burgundy
Guest house on independent walking holiday in France
La Maison des Gardes is a small guest house located close to the centre of the historic town of Cluny, famed for its Benedictine Abbey in southern Burgundy. This authentic and welcoming guest house is just a stones throw from the historic sites in this delightful town. Cluny is a stop over on two of our independent walking holidays in the Burgundy region of France, as well as being a place we visit on our week's guided walking holiday in southern Burgundy.
La Maison des Gardes is located in a historic property which was originally a guard house near one of the entrances to the walled town. The property surrounds a pretty private courtyard which has 300 year old trees, and is a great place to unwind after your excursions of your walking holiday in France. The guest house has five individually decorated rooms, each with their own particular feel. Each room has WiFi access.
Helen will reserve you an extra special warm welcome to her guest house which has been in the family since 1703. She will serve you a delicious breakfast in the beautiful dining room with open fire. They don't serve evening meals, but there are plenty of restaurants nearby in the centre of Cluny.
On your self-guided or independent walking holidays in Burgundy, France you'll have the chance to visit the town of Cluny, the main historic local centre with its abbey founded in 910, which at the time, was the biggest in the Christian world and which influenced building architecture across many countries. Our French walking holidays arrive in Cluny from either Ige on our secret Burgundy Trail walking holiday or from Blanot on our Romanesque Burgundy Trail to the North.
As well as being an integral part of our walking holidays in France we would be happy to book this guest house for you as part of your independent sightseeing trip. Please contact us if you would like more information.
