Le Foineau Guest House, Burgundy

The lovely 'Le Foineau' bed and breakfast is located in the Burgundy region of France and is used on our independent walking holiday The Monk's Trail. This self-guided walking tour starts and finishes in the historic town of Tournus and takes a circular route through the rolling Burgundy coutryside and its amazing historic villages with their Romanesque churches.

Le Foineau is a small guest house located in the small hamlet of Colombier sous Uxelles near the village of St Gengoux le National, an area which has the highest concentration of early medieval Romanesque or Norman churches in the whole of France. This is the 5th night of our 7 night French walking holiday in Burgundy just before the walking trail passes through the amazing villages of Brancion and Chapaize.

Le Foineau has three individually decorated rooms with character located in an old barn which has been beautifully restored. They are large rooms and retain many original features such as stone walls and wooden beams. The garden is a great place to relax in the shade of an apple tree after a day's walking or take a dip in the swimming pool.

Mélina and Nicolas will reserve you a very warm welcome and will serve you delicious local Burgundy cuisine in the lovely dining room, washed down with fine Burgundy wine.

Le Foineau has proved a favourite with our guests on our Monk's Trail walking holiday. The following comment is typical of many who stay at this special Burgundy guest house. "Accommodation was stunning, the host was so attentive, helpful and a fabulous cook".

This walking holiday also passes through the historic town of Cluny with its partly destroyed abbey and wonderful buildings where you'll stay at the Maison des Gardes guest house.
