Chateau de Grandvaux, French Guest House
This lovely and original guest house is located in central France close to the small town of Clayette, famous for its beautiful castle
The Chateau de Grandvaux is a small guest house located close to the small historic town of La Clayette, famed for its chateau on the border between the Beaujolais, Burgundy and Brionnais regions of France. This authentic and welcoming guest house is an overnight stop on two of our holidays - independent walking holiday in the Brionnais: Beautiful Brionnais - Secret Hills of Burgundy & our cycling holiday: The 3 Regions Tour. Both of these tours are unique and inspiring holidays created by High Point Holidays.
The Chateau de Grandvaux is located in a superb 15th century chateau on the edge of the village of Varennes sous Dun. The pretty castle has a small courtyard and extensive grounds and is a great place to unwind after the exertions of your cycling or walking holiday in France. The guest house has three large individually decorated rooms, each with their own particular character. The rooms are located in an adjoining annexe to the chateau with a separate access.
Pascale and Olivier will reserve you an extra special warm welcome to their guest house which they have renovated with love and care over the past few years. Pascale will serve you delicious breakfasts and evening meals in the beautiful dining room in the chateau with an open fire. For those who are partial to beef, the local Charolais is a popular speciality. Wine is served with your wonderful meals.
On your self-guided or independent walking holiday in the Brionnais area of Burgundy, France, you'll have the chance to explore a quiet and undiscovered region. In the shadow of the high Beaujolais hills, the green and picturesque hills of the Brionnais lead you toward the mighty Loire River. These rolling hills and valleys are made up of a patchwork of fields and you'll pass from beautiful secluded valleys with babbling streams to open ridges with great panoramic views. This secluded and quiet part of south west Burgundy in France also has a number of architectural treasures to rival some of the more popular parts of Burgundy, a region known world-wide for its hospitality, and great food and wine.
Our French walking holidays in the Brionnais start and end at the Chateau de Grandvaux, whilst our independent cycling holiday arrives at the guest house after traversing the Burgundy hills to the north east and then leaves to cross the high Beaujolais hills.
