Lyon's Beautiful Secluded Hills

Beautiful scenery, wonderful food and kindness & generosity of all our hosts." A. Leete, UK

"Very French and very much off the British tourist track. We were made to feel very welcome. This walking holiday stands out for us because of the varied and wonderful accommodation, the friendliness of the owners, the all inclusive price and the clear walking notes." H. Lucas, UK

"The accommodation was a highlight - the owners at each of the chambre d'hotes were absolutely delightful and made us very welcome. We enjoyed all the walks - beautiful views every day. We have done other High Point walks and once again we were not disappointed! Excellent service - excellent walking notes and lots of extra information. Thanks again." Fraser & Anderson, UK

Beaujolais and Burgundy Uncovered

"We enjoyed being in rural France, getting to meet local people, enjoying and learning about the wine and enjoying the unspoilt countryside." J. Holliman, UK

"We felt that everything on this walk was just as promised. Being picked up at Lyons airport by William was the icing on the cake. No stress of hiring a car or getting lost. We felt very much at home in both the places we stayed at...such good dinners and at our first family guesthouse the fun of meeting up with other guests of different nationalities.
Picnic lunches were good too...and a very interesting wine tasting in Fuisse where we stayed for our second place. Looking out of the window you could see the vineyard his own wine came from. All the hosts were very welcoming and friendly.
I enjoyed every day of the holiday...even walking in a French drizzle a couple of days did not dampen the fun.
Anyone who loves France should try going with High Point Holidays...a very warm, personal service.. Nothing too much trouble for Mark and William." L. Floyd, UK

"Overwhelmed by the level of hospitality received. We have walked with other companies in France but this was by far the best. A thoroughly enjoyable experience." S Adkins, UK

"Overall we thought the holiday and walking experience were excellent and I would certainly recommend you to friends and family looking for a similar type of holiday and we could well book with you again. The scenery was excellent with good views every day.  The interest, paths, circuit were all good as were the notes for information and helpfulness. Our favourite guest house was Villa Toscana - Fabienne and Pascal were both lovely and made us very welcome both nights.  The others were very good as well, although Berthier to a lesser extent, but overall Villa Toscana was the best for welcome, food, room, packed lunch, etc. Thank you as well for taking good care of us and for taking us to Villefranche on day one and Lyon on our last day." Mr & Mrs C Clark, UK

"The huge plus factor for me was the opportunity to stay with a family. It was a unique chance to stay in a private home, share a meal with the hosts and chat about all manner of things. We felt part of the country, and not just that we we're skimming the surface. We were delighted and amazed we got on so well with people. Local produce, regional dishes, home cooking all contributed. In general the holiday fulfilled all our expectations and provided much more!" J Kay, UK

"We both think it was very well organised - keep up the good work" S Franks, Queensland

Overall a fantastic experience which we would recommend to anyone. The hospitality of Martine/Jean François and Mireille/Etienne was superb. Extremely comprehensive walking notes and overall, very easy to follow." Ray & Christine O'Grady, Sydney

"The trip was delightful; beyond our expectations. It will leave us with memories for a lifetime (and photos too!). We're already dreaming of our next holiday with High Point Holidays". Ed & Rena, Washington

"Thanks for a great week. We didn't have the best weather but the scenery and hospitality made up for it." Simon & Gail, Dorset

"All guest houses were great and very hard to pick a winner or loser". P Betterton, Doha

"All the guest houses were very friendly, gave more of their time than you would expect in the UK and were also different from each other with plenty of character" L & J Ruse, UK

"We would like to thank you all for your hospitality on our recent travels in Beaujolais and for taking the trouble to speak English with us. We enjoyed ALL of the meals and staying in your beautiful homes, and can only say that William has every reason to be very pleased with his choice of properties he has chosen for his tour. You live in a very beautiful part of France and we are pleased that Alexandra chose this tour so that now we too, have some understanding of the region." R Turner, Sydney

Beaujolais Wine Trail

"Everything was well planned and surpassed expectations. The scenery and hospitality from really nice people and superb evening meals." J & S Allen, Australia

"The "Beaujolais Wine Trail" independent walking tour gave us four days of walking through beautiful countryside and five nights of splendid eating and wine-tasting with friendly and charming hosts. All of our hosts were very gracious in sharing with us not only their wine but also their experiences as grape growers and winemakers. High Point Holidays designed this very interesting tour and made the day-to-day arrangements, all of which worked without a hitch. We have now done two independent walking tours arranged by High Point and recommend the company to anyone interested in this kind of holiday." R. Thompson, USA.

"Many thanks for the excellent arrangements you made for us last week. The accommodation at the Domaine du Clos des Garands was to 5-star hotel standard, and dinner at the Brasserie Villa Cardinale was wonderful.  At all of the guesthouses the welcome was warm, and the food good." P. Meier, UK

Our self-guided walking holiday: Beaujolais Wine Trail, traverses the northern Beaujolais, where the vines produce the 10 Grand Crus of the region. A pleasant combination of rich fruity flavours and more complex characteristics, makes these French wines unique, with some being grown only on a few hundred hectares. You'll get the chance to sample them at your guest houses, which are on vineyards, as well as at other producers along the way. Your walking trail snakes its way along secluded and picturesque valleys, as well as along some panoramic ridges, away from the main roads and noise of the Saone Valley. You'll pass historic villages, chateaux and a host of other interesting sites on route.

At the end of each day you'll be welcomed with open arms at your small, quaint guest houses where the hospitality is excellent and you'll be treated to great local food and wine.

Accommodation on this holiday may include Le Fetre, La Source des Fees, Clos des Garands

Our self-guided walking holiday: High Beaujolais Hills, explores the little-known hills, ridges and valleys of the Beaujolais away from the more famous vines. This pretty landscape is covered in a mix of forest, pasture, crops and in some valleys, vines. The trees allow shade in the warm Beaujolais summers, whilst open ridges provide great views across a succession of ridges and valleys. The Beaujolais hills reach about 1000m in altitude and are steeped in legend. A vast network of footpaths criss-cross the high Beaujolais, making this quiet destination ideal for walkers looking for a holiday that gets off the beaten track.
