Our commitment to an authentic local experience

Have you ever wondered whether you could combine your walking holidays in Europe with a proper insight into the local way of life? Well, now you can with High Point Holidays. Whether it’s your accommodation, your meals or your welcoming hosts, every aspect of your holiday has been meticulously planned so that you have that authentic local experience.

A Home from home

The majority of the guest houses that we use on our walking and cycling holidays are intimate, special places with bags of local character. Your stay could include quaint cottages, old farms, former mills, chalets, manor houses or even chateaux, all of which have been lovingly restored by their owners to provide “Chambres d’hôtes” style accommodation (the French version of B&B) or small independent hotels. These jewels in the rural countryside are often set in magnificent surroundings. We have selected only the best in the area and where a warm welcome is guaranteed. Many of the places that we use will only work with small, independent tour operators such as ourselves. Please follow the accommodation link to find out more. Each holiday destination also provides further details about the accommodation used in that area

It’s not just the place, it’s the people

All of your hosts on our walking holidays in France and elsewhere in Europe reserve you a warm welcome and a personal service. They will take great pleasure in looking after you, exchanging stories and providing you with useful tips for your following day’s walking or cycling. Evening meals are often taken with the hosts, so you can get to find out more about their way of life and vice versa.

Off the beaten track

Our guided walking holidays and independent walking holidays in Europe do not follow the run of the mill walks. They have been designed to let you enjoy the best a region has to offer without following the main tourist routes. All of the walks have been prepared and tested by us, assisted by locals. Our guided walking holidays use local guides to add insight into your walking experience. Our African treks use classic routes, although we have sought less frequented trails where possible.

Made to measure

Whatever your interests we can create the perfect holiday for you. Whether you wish to add additional days to an existing offer or create your own holiday, we can arrange it for you. Thanks to our network of specialist partners we can create a range of active holidays; for example, if you wish to learn to horse ride, take a trip in a hot air balloon, take part in wine tasting courses, have a Thermal Spa treatment break, or just want to go fishing we can arrange this for you. There are plenty of activities to cater for a special celebration or a fun group holiday, you decide.
