Les Nuits de Fourviere

 

The Fourvière festival has been gracing the stage of Lyon’s open-air Roman ampitheatre for over half a century. For two months each summer, this unique venue overlooking the city plays host to some memorable performances.

The programme includes a series of one-off concerts from internationally recognised musicians and singers, as well as shows and concerts from renowned artists in the world of theatre, dance and classical music.

Here is a list of some of the artists that have performed at Fourviere over the last few years:

Music - David Bowie, Jamiroquai, Blur, Oasis, Phil Collins, Iggy Pop, PJ Harvey, Elvis Costello
Theatre - Luca Ronconi and the Piccolo Teatro de Milan, Robert Wilson, Jean-Claude Carrière and Carole Bouquet
Dance - National Ballet Opéra of Paris, National Ballet Opéra of Lyon, American Dance Theatre, José Montalvo, Ballet Béjart Lausanne
Classical music - Barbara Hendricks, National Orchester of Lyon, David Robertson, Maurizio Benini, Daniel Harding, Michel Plasson.

The programme usually becomes available from sometime in March.
