We offer a number of breaks that combine a visit to Lyon with a number of celebrated events in the city and surrounding areas. Lyon, France’s second city and gastronomic capital, is a lively historic city ideal for those in search of lots to see and do. Classified as a world heritage site, Lyon has it all; roman amphitheatres, medieval streets, renaissance architecture and modern art.
The Beaujolais Nouveau is celebrated every year on the third Thursday of November. A day’s visit to the local towns and villages is the perfect excuse to sample the festivities as well as the local wine.
For the last 10 years, Lyon has been hosting a world famous international light festival. For 4 days in December the city is awash with lights, as buildings are illuminated and exhibitions of various shapes and sizes decorate the town. Lyon is also a great shopping location, so why not combine a city break with some festive shopping.
“Les Nuits de Fourviere” is a summer long festival held in the Lyon’s open-air Roman amphitheatre. Modern and world music, Opera, theatre and classical music are all performed under the stars in an acoustically and aesthetically amazing site overlooking the city.
